The Song: "Lovesong" by The Cure. Because this jacket is all drama.
The Name: A hopelessly romantic, post-punk band, Robert Smith from The Cure himself says about this song..."It's an open show of emotion". And so is this jacket, from beginning to end.
The Design: This black denim base jacket was chosen for its distinctly dark, feminine gothic aesthetic. To begin the upcycle the first selection of embellishments were chosen; reclaimed mismatched buttons for a slightly eccentric effect, discovered at a Vintage Emporium in Melbourne’s outer South East, gives the jacket a glamorously gorgeous front focal point. The hand-stiched, asymmetrical vintage shoulder detail then added emphasis and drama to the piece, speaking gently to the muted black sequins meticulously sewn around the flared waist panel. Additional black and silver diamante embellishment has been hand-stiched around the small medici collar. The soft and velvety fabric of this jacket is smooth to the touch, divine to wear and holds its form beautifully. Designed to be worn open, this jacket is a very flattering fit with square shoulders, a fitted waist and tailored sleeves. Overall, it has been designed to have both a glamorous and intensely brooding look…transporting you; it’s wearer back to a time of musical brilliance.
