The Song: "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac, it's so dreamy. With inspiration coming from Stevie Nicks this jacket came from the concept of fashion that she wears so beautifully.
The Name: The name “Flamingo Dreams” was chosen because the brightly coloured birds that float down each arm are a strong dream representation of real aspects of waking life; dreaming of flamingo’s denotes self-love and success in the physical world. The design has a real sense of paradise to it.
The Design: This denim base jacket was chosen for its ability to add voluptuous floaty sleeves to the tailored bodice, plus its uniquely ruched back. The looped button detail to the front of the vest and its fitted shape gave it so many gorgeous features to work with. The embellishments and sleeves for this garment were sourced from a local vintage clothing market in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. A floor length, floating vintage skirt with tropical patterns, butterflies and dragonflies was discovered, perfect for the bespoke sleeves and detailed bodice work. To add some edgy drama to the piece we used heavy black beaded trim to the bottoms of the sleeves, completing the overall look with a touch of flamboyance. This creation is for the femme looking for the uniquely beautiful with gentle stylishness.
