The Song: "Killer Queen" by Queen, cause this woman is all educated female...but don't mess with her!
The Name: The Persian Warrior Queen, Artemisia, was chosen as this jackets muse. A military genius, she is said to have been both strong and beautiful. History portrays her as clever and brave, most famous for her role in the naval Battle of Salamis in 480 BCE in which she fought for the Persians.
The Design: Dramatic saree embellishments of heavily beaded paisley were cut from a vintage saree for this artwork, with a portion of the saree's hem detail being placed upside down for the striking collar component. Rich emerald green satin has been re-purposed from a thick, vintage kimono to enhance the lapels and compliment the bold outline of colour on the gemstone sections. This stunning jacket is designed to be worn open and with the collar turned up for its full dramatic effect.
